Ignatia amara


Ignatia is used after a major shock or loss often accompanied by sighing and hysterically sobbing. They may have a sensation as though there were a lump stuck in the throat. It can be used to treat fainting and hysteria. Cramps are also a feature of this remedy.

General symptoms.


Spasmodic and erratic symptoms.
Twitching especially around the mouth.
Sensation as if a lump in the throat.
Loathing of the smell of cigarettes and tobacco smoke.
Pains felt in small spots, very localised.
Aversion to open air.
Perspiration on the face when eating.

Mental symptoms.

Ailments from anger, grief and disappointment.
Involuntary sighing.
Hysterical crying, sobbing.
Alternating states, mood swings, contradictory with people.

Modalities.

> changing position, urination, hard pressure, warmth and swallowing.
