Hypericum

Hypericum is a remedy with a specific affinity to the nervous system. Useful first aid treatment for lacerated wounds from sharp instruments or any injury to nerve rich areas (e.g. slamming door on fingers or falling on the coccyx). Pains are extreme and shoot along the nerves. Reputed anti-tetanus properties. Known as the "Arnica" of the nerves.

General symptoms.

Injuries to parts rich in nerve endings such as toes, fingers and coccyx.
Shooting pains along nerves.
Pains appear and disappear quickly.
Penetrating wounds especially palms or soles with pain shooting up along the nerves.

Mental sypmtoms.

Unbearable pains.
Mental tiredness and lethargy following injury.

Modalities.

< injury, cold air.
> lying quietly, bending backward.

Common uses.

Injuries to nerves, crush injuries, falling on coccyx.
Shooting and stabbing pain e.g. toothache, following a dental extraction.
Prevention of tetanus.
